THE NAVY GOES A HUNTIN' FOR TROUBLE

It is not only in the high seas that the SL Navy searches and destroys its enemy. With a commitment lesser to none, our naval warriors have taken the war even into the jungles of Sri Lanka, pursuing an enemy whose survival remains a guaranteed threat to all civilized forms of humanity. The SL Navy website www, navy.lk reports...

" Naval troops intercepted and attacked an LTTE movement inside the Kuchchaveli Jungle in Trincomalee yesterday (07th January 2007) around 7.30 p.m.

Approximately 20 LTTE cadres were moving when the naval troops launched the surprise attack. During the subsequent search and clear operation, three LTTE dead bodies were found along with four T 56 weapons, magazines and ammunitions. A stock of dry rations and medical items were also recovered by the naval troops.

It is suspected that approximately 10 LTTE cadres may have suffered injuries and the rest may have fled carrying the injured, unable to face the naval attack.

A search operation is still continuing to locate the fleeing LTTE cadres and their weapons. Arrangements are being made to hand over the dead bodies to the ICRC.."
